Sandhill cranes return for the season
Mar 09, 2026

A pair of sandhill cranes (Antigone canadensis) returned to the pasture a few days ago. We hope they stick around and raise their offspring as they did in past years. The birds are camera-shy and even more people-shy and wandered off quickly toward their nesting area where they won’t be bothered, at least by us. Next time I’ll use a lens with a longer reach. Watch for more photos.
