Drangurinn Rock is the backdrop for turf elf houses used in the movie Hrafninn flýgur (When the Raven Flies) in Iceland. They also may have been used for storage by local farmers. The tuff rock formation is said to have been torn from Hrútafell cliff and tossed here by showoff Grettir Ásmundsson.
